About the study

This study requires healthy males with no medical conditions.

We are investigating a new medication for the treatment of Gout. Gout is a condition that makes joints swollen and painful and is often caused by high levels of a compound called uric acid in the blood. An estimated 200,000 Australians are currently affected by the condition, with around 80% of sufferers being male.

It is thought that this medication will help to lower the levels of uric acid and therefore to treat gout. In the initial stages of clinical studies, we need healthy people who do not have the condition. The results and data from this study will be used for further testing of the medication and will help determine whether the medication is approved for patient use.
