About the study
One of the biggest risks for cancer patients receiving life-saving stem cell treatments such as bone marrow transplants is Graft-Versus-Host Disease. The ‘donated stem cells’ (once transplanted to their new body) may recognise the patient as ‘foreign’, and attack the healthy tissues and organs, leading to tissue damage and potential organ failure. When this happens – This condition is called “Graft-Versus-Host Disease” or GVHD and it is very difficult for doctors to treat.
This new medication has been developed as a potential treatment for GVHD as there are limited treatment options for patients who develop this serious condition.
Volunteers will be reimbursed for their time and inconvenience for participating in this study.
